Bainbridge Island Television (BITV) held a preview of its forthcoming Academy Awards Show for award winners last Sunday. Some of Bainbridge Island’s most prominent citizens were in attendance to kick off one of the island’s newest traditions: Yearly Academy Awards.

The Academy of Hearts and Sciences was recently created by BITV to honor those organizations and individuals whose contribution to the betterment of our island deserves a very special and public “thank you”.

BITV Chair, Marit Saltrones said “we think that by helping more people understand the great work these non-profit organizations and corporate philanthropists are doing, more people will want to pitch in and help”. Joining in with BITV to congratulate its Award Winners were BI Mayor Kordonowy and Councilman Bill Knobloch, School Superintendent Ken Crawford, Chamber Executive Director Kevin Dwyer, and numerous board members of Island non-profit organizations. The Mayor congratulated BITV for its visionary efforts to bring important event, people and messages to the public’s attention through its public access channel 12. She said “I can’t wait until next month when you start broadcasting via the web as well so that virtually all Bainbridge Islanders can watch the station’s great content.

The BITV Academy Award Presentations will begin airing on BITV starting at 6:30 Nov 10 and regularly thereafter. Consult the schedule at www.bitv.org for dates and times.
